The New Me..

Falling apart and Building back up! When you hit rock bottom, the only thing to do is build yourself back up. Getting sick and tired of feeling exhausted every day was the first step in my journey.  To make a change in your life you need to decide and commit to succeed.  I had made the decision long ago once I realized I was sick and tired of being sick all the time.  I decided to make a change for myself, my family and my future.  It was about making myself the priority and my health my focus.  Rock bottom is different for everyone, for me it was severe pain, constant illness, tons of prescription side effects and severe fatigue.  I couldn’t function to perform daily tasks without feeling horrible at the end of the day.  I started by committing to changing my diet and adding a fitness routine to my life.  I knew that many of my health issues had to due with my poor diet and severe digestive problems.  Leaky gut had been impacting my body significantly for years and it was finally time to tackle it.  Stress and anxiety was controlling the way I responded to the obstacles and struggles.  It was time to actively participate in a fitness routine to reduce my stress and anxiety. Slowly my symptoms started to improve and I became more committed to changing my health.  I was still suffering from fatigue, digestive issues and chronic pain, so it was time to find out how to treat these issues.  One day, the answer fell on my lap and nutrigenomics was the answer.  Nutrigenomics is the science of using nutrient rich compounds to impact gene expressions.  I learned that activating the Nrf2 pathway helps the body remove toxins and enable the body to heal.  The pathway protects the body against oxidative stress and free radical damage.  This damage occurs everyday through exposure to food, air, toxins and environment.  As a nurse and professor research is very important to me before I begin any treatment.  I researched extensively and found that oxidative stress was linked to more than 200 disease including Fibromyalgia, EDS III, Leaky gut, etc.  Considering I have all of these and more I decided to commit.  After 3 months, my pain was gone and fatigue was improving every day.  I was ecstatic with the results and knew that this was the answer to my prayers.  I was finally seeing progress and building my body back up.  Healing takes time but I was on the right path and I could feel it.  As the symptoms disappeared my happy, positive and loving self reemerged.  I continued to learn my body and find ways to reduce stress and tension from my body.  I began stretching on a regular basis and realized that it helped promote restful sleep, reduced stress and decreased tension in my muscles.  My biggest issue at this point was my digestion and severe bloating.  I knew I had to tackle that head on with further diet changes and supplementation.  I was lucky that the answer fell on my lap once again.  I had been taking probiotics for years with little improvement and needed to find a new alternative.  Then I learned of a probiotic that supported the immune system and had a protective coating that allowed 80% of the bacteria to colonize the the digestive tract.  I was also constantly had low vitamin D levels and poor intake of Omega 3 fatty acids.  I knew I had to find a better supplement than the ones I had been taking.  Thankfully, my prayers were answered and I found the right Omega 3 that contained vitamin D3.  The new plan helped give my body the nutrients and support it needed to continue healing.  My positivity flourished and my health was back.  I no longer felt like a 60 year old in a 30 year old’s body.  I no longer felt exhausted and in pain everyday.  My journey was long with many obstacles and struggles but I learned with the right resources and support you can accomplish anything.   I learned that a journey to wellness doesn’t have to be so hard.  Now, I am dedicating my life to ensuring others don’t have to face this journey alone.
