    Open the door!!

Do you feel trapped? Trapped in a vicious cycle of anxiety, stress and tension.  Feeling trapped was a huge part of my health journey but I was completely oblivious until now.   The emotional journey began this summer after I had healed the physical pain and symptoms.  The time for emotional healing and reflection was here and I was ready and open for it.  I began my emotional journey with holistic treatments and finally decided on hypnosis.  The hypnosis and transformational regressions helped me identify my feelings and emotions.  These emotions continued to reemerge and my progress would come to a halt.  Now, I realize I had been trapped in a vicious cycle of emotional pain that continuously locked the door to my future.  Little struggles, obstacles, relationships and stress continued to cause me to feel trapped.  I didn’t realize that theses emotional struggles were causing me physical symptoms as well.  It sounds crazy, I know, but its true.  Every time I felt trapped and unable to move forward in my career, a new symptoms would emerge and my progress would stop.  I have experienced many symptoms through this emotional healing journey.  I have felt physical pain, skin eruptions, illness and infections. I didn’t realize the emotional and physical symptoms were all linked together, until I started to reflect and journal.  I noticed some people and situations in life caused me to continue this pattern of disruption and destruction.  I’m sure you have heard this before, connect with people that boost you up and break the bonds with those that don’t.  It is often hard to identify the individuals that are harmful to our happiness and joy.  Trust me it is a lifelong journey to wellness and disconnecting from these people that bring you down is the key.  People that give off negative energy will pass it on to you.  I realized months ago that I feel the pain and stress of others I am close too.  If I have an emotional connection then your physical and emotional pain resonates throughout my body.  It can be a burden and a curse if I don’t break that connection with those that don’t want to be helped.  Absorbing the pain of others is toxic and harmful to my health.  It brings me down and shuts my progress.  Breaking that physical connection and identifying those people that bring be down has been the most difficult part of my journey.  The first step is breaking the connection and the second is tapping back into my positivity.  I had become disconnected from my physical need to unwind, relax and stress.  I had become so stuck in the pain of others that I had forgotten about my own.  I forgot that I am important and I come first.  It isn’t easy to tackle emotional pain and obstacles but I am determined to succeed.  I am finally free of the toxic pain I’ve been holding.  I am here with open arms for those that choose happiness.  I am ready to open the door to my future.  I am ready to help those heal that choose to make themselves the priority.  I am Finally Free…..

    Yeast infections No more

Yeast infections used to be a monthly occurrence for me and it went hand in hand with frequent urinary tract infections.  I would finish one treatment to start a new one a few weeks later.  It was a constant battle to dealing with infections, OTC treatments, prescriptions and little hope for improvement.  The infections were so frequent, I ended up on daily antibiotics to prevent urinary tract infections.  I also had huge sensitivities to feminine products, lubricants, condoms and soaps.  These allergies resulted in frequent skin infections as well.   My infections and treatments were spiraling out of control.  I decided something had to change for my health and symptoms to improve.  These infections disappeared like magic after using Nutrigenomics for 3 months.  Nutrigenomics is the science of using nutrient rich compounds to impact genetic expressions and wellness.  To establish a healthy vagina the body needs to have a healthy balance of good bacteria in the gut and vagina.  A huge part of my treatment was finding a good probiotic that was effective for both vaginal and gut flora.  Before nutrigenomics, I had used a multitude of products with little improvement.  At the time I didn’t realize that not all probiotics are created equal.  Probiotics don’t always have the right bacterial strain for both areas.  Probiotics also have to pass the stomach acid and make it to the intestines to be effective and not all probiotics make it past the acid.  This probiotic was the answer to my prayers, it had an immune component and a special coating to protect it in the gastic acid.  It finally offered a way to combat my weak immune system, weak digestive tract and vaginal flora.  Thankfully, the treatment was very effective, I have been infection free for almost 1 year and a half.  I recently acquired my first infection from using a new vaginal lubricant.  Since, I am so sensitive to latex, vaginal products and lubricants, I knew it was a possibility and tackled it quickly.  I actually was excited that I found an OTC test to check for yeast infections.  The test is a simple way to test your vaginal flora at home.  It contains a small swab to insert into the vagina and test your vaginal flora for bacteria or yeast infections.  If the swab stays yellow you have a yeast infection and using an OTC Monistat product of your choice will treat the problem.  If the swab changes color then you need to see a doctor for further testing and treatment.  My results showed a yeast infection and I chose 1 day Monistat treatment which worked great.  My symptoms resolved quickly and I was back to normal in a few days.  You can also call your doctor for a prescription cream or pill for the yeast infection. Diflucan is an oral medication that kills the yeast with one dose.

Now, let’s tackle yeast infections and find the root cause of the problem.  It seems simple, get an infection use an OTC medication and its over.  But the fact is most women don’t experience only one infection.  Yeast infections are a sign of an underlying medical problem that is lingering in hiding.   Candida can be growing rapidly throughout your body and symptoms can be vague and seem unrelated.

    Some common signs of Candida:

    • Fatigue
    • Cravings for sweets and sugar
    • Brain fog
    • weak immune system (frequent infections)
    • Bad breath
    • Hormone imbalance
    • Frequent UTI (urinary tract infections)
    • Lack of libido
    • Chronic sinus and allergy issues
    • Digestive problems (gas and bloating)
    • White coating on your tongue
    • Joint pain

So let’s talk about the systemic yeast infections a little further.  There can be a bigger health issue at hand when you have frequent yeast infections.  Some health concerns that are related to yeast overgrowth are leaky gut, diabetes, weak immune system and even medications. The list above explains a bunch more symptoms of yeast infections.  Some medications that cause issues are antibiotics, birth control, corticosteroids and cancer treatments.  If you are experiencing multiple symptoms then its time to look at your overall health because systemic yeast can continue to grow and multiply.  Building your immune system with nutrient-rich compounds, probiotics and omega 3 fatty acids will help strengthen the immune system, build gut flora and support your body.  Diet is also a huge factor in yeast infections.  A diet high in sugar and carbohydrates feeds the yeast and allows overgrowth to continue.  So truly combating yeast is complex and the body needs the right nutrition to fight back.  If you simply have vaginal symptoms than keep reading, you might have some sensitivities.  I will write a more thorough article about system yeast soon.

Something that may surprise you about yeast infections.  Safe sex might be giving you yeast infections.  Sounds crazy, I know but I experienced first hand.  If you are a using condoms or lubricants and experiencing yeast or bacterial infections, then stick around.  Speaking from experience with frequent UTIs and yeast infections, vaginal sensitivities could be the culprit.   Vaginal tissue is already very delicate and finicky but add skin sensitivities to the mix and you have a big problem.  Over the years, I had to learn my body, patterns, symptoms and products that caused irritation and flare ups.  I learned that I have an extremely sensitive and allergic vagina.  I experienced tons of yeast infections and UTIs after safe sex practices and learned a lot about my body.  Soaps, lubricants, feminine products (tampons and pads) and condoms are all part of the phenomena.  These products are filled with chemicals, irritants and fillers that can impact vaginal flora and irritate the delicate skin.   Body wash and soaps can cause irritation to the vulva and outer labia when you shower.  If you feel dry, itchy or irritated after a shower, try buying a hypoallergenic feminine wash with out scents.  I have been using Summers Eve feminine wash for more 20 years to avoid this issue.  Now there are store brand options as well with the same ingredients, so use those if you prefer.  Not all lubricants are created equal, it might take several tried to find the right lubricant for your vagina.  If you are not using condoms coconut oil is a great natural option that hydrates the skin.  There are a bunch of water based hypoallergenic options.  Definitely, look at the labels and read ingredients, less is better, so read and compare.  It make take a few tries and repeat infections before you find the right one for you.  I found one lubricant called aloe cadabra that appears to be very pure, no chemicals, additives, hormones or estrogen.  I am trying this one myself to see how it works.  But the battle is not over, trying to find the right condom is also essential.  So now that you have a pure lube, if you continue to develop issues with safe sex practices, then its time to look at the condoms.  First, eliminate latex condoms and try another option.  There are a variety of options out there but remember lamb skin does not protect against STDs, so use only to avoid against pregnancy.  The condoms are also tons of options, so read the boxes and compare to find your best option.  It make also take a few tries before you find one that works for you.  Be patient and learn your body, its okay if you don’t figures it out right away.  I know the infections are uncomfortable and annoying but your health is important and learning your own body is key.   Now, back to feminine products, tampons and maxi pads can also irritate your delicate skin.  I experienced tons of issues with feminine products and learned a lot about my body by testing my options.  Maxi pads and tampons are filled with chemicals to absorb the menstrual blood and stop odor.  These chemicals can irritate the delicate tissue and even cause abscess or infections.  I experienced monthly abscesses and infections with menstruation until I figured this out.  I tried all the top brand maxi pads and experience symptoms requiring frequent antibiotics.  Vaginal abscesses are extremely painful and sometimes require draining by a physician.  Hopefully, you don’t need one because draining an abscess in the vagina can be extremely painful because the skin has a huge blood supply and does not numb effectively for procedures.  Let’s just say, ouch, I hope you don’t need an incision and drainage  in your vaginal labia.  I tried for months, maybe even years to find my answers because there was just no information out there for people like me.  I went from top brand to to organic options and ended up with washable fabric pads.  In my case, I stayed away from tampons completely because there was no way I wanted irritation inside my vagina, it was bad enough to have issues in the labia.  I stayed using fabric washable pads for years and then alternated between those and organic cotton disposable pads.  But I can tell you eventually, i just got sick of the trouble and decided to get an IUD to avoid menstruation completely.  Thankfully, after my hysterectomy, I have one less vaginal issue.

More facts about vaginal sensitivity you might not realize.  Vaginal sensitivity can go beyond the typical products I mentioned before.  It can include exam gloves and foley catheters too.  I am a huge advocate for myself at the doctor and hospital to ensure any product to approach my vagina is absolutely free of latex.  Unfortunately, I learned it the hard way with a severe kidney infection.  After having a c-section for my first son, I got a severe bladder infection that went to my kidneys.  I felt irritation with the foley but didn’t pay much attention.  After the infection, I started thinking and realized the foley was latex.  I learned and started advocating for myself quickly after that day.  I keep an eye on doctors and gloves to make sure they are latex free.  I also ensured the hospital was aware for my second c-section.  So, if you are sensitive to latex condoms, advocate for yourself and make sure your doctor and hospital know, before they come anywhere near your vagina.  The most important thing to remember to to listen to your body, learn your symptoms and advocate for your health.

Simple tips for vaginal yeast infections:

    • warm soaks in bidet or tub to soothe skin
    • keep area dry
    • avoid excess sugar in your diet
    • drink plenty of fluids
    • use a topical cream for the itch
    • take a test before using OTC vaginal treatments
    • avoid irritating soaps

    Preventions is key:

    • wear cotton panties
    • keep area clean and dry
    • wash area with feminine soap and water after sex
    • take off wet bathing suits and put on a dry one
    • pay attention to soaps, lubricants, feminine products and lubricants

    Chronic Fatigue

I remember so vividly the day I decided to take my health into my own hands.  I had just arrived home from a long day at work with the kids.  My husband was away on a business trip and all the responsibility was in my hands.  I was absolutely exhausted, my head was pounding and my body pains were intense.   Moving was impossible because nausea and dizziness accompanied my headache.  I had a debilitating migraine, chronic fatigue and chronic pain.  I felt like I had been hit by a truck.  It was going to be another afternoon where I just laid on the couch unable to do anything.  My children needed me and I wasn’t able to move.  My oldest Gabriel was around 5 and Lucas was 2.  Gabriel spent the afternoon caring for me and his little brother.  I needed time to rest for the stress and symptoms to diminish.  I needed time for my  migraine prescription to take effect.  Gabriel brought me whatever I needed and watched his brother.  He played with him and changed the TV channels to keep him entertained.  They both were so well behaved and worried about me that it was heart breaking.  Lucas came to hug and kiss me periodically and try to get my attention.  It took some time for my migraine pill to take effect and looking at their sweet little faces broke my heart.  I was laying on that couch close to 2 hours.  Eventually, I had to get up and prepare dinner, even-though I was still excruciatingly exhausted.  I managed to feed and bathe them pushing through my exhaustion.  On these extra exhausting days, I would fall asleep with the kids right after dinner.  There was no watching TV or alone time, I was just too drained to stay awake any longer.  As soon as the clothes was prepared for the next day, I would pass out.

I knew that feeling this exhausted and drained everyday was not normal.  The problem was my doctors didn’t always understand or believe it.  They often told me its normal, you are a young mom with a career, it comes with the territory.  They said its normal for you to feel tired and drained.  But they just didn’t grasp the true extent of my extreme exhaustion.   I was exhausted every day all day long and there is no way that is normal.  It didn’t matter if I had slept 7, 8, 9, or 10 hours, I woke up exhausted and spent the day exhausted.  This type of extreme fatigue is nothing like being tired because the baby didn’t let you sleep.  This was beyond sleepless night and new mom exhaustion.  This was beyond fatigue from raising an infant.  This was something much more profound and I was determined to figure it out.  I knew that all my health issues and symptoms were related.  I knew that I had to find an answer.  I knew that I had to advocate for my health.  I knew that I wanted my body back.

What I didn’t know, was that it was going to take me many years of specialists, prescriptions and health struggles to get my answer.  I went to countless doctors ranging from primary care, gastroenterologist, psychologists, pain specialists, neurologists, orthopedists, rheumatologists and geneticists.  I am sure there are more specialists that I missed but the point is after endless years and tons of money on prescriptions and doctor visits, I was still sick.  Eventually, I became “Sick and tired of being Sick and Tired.”  I knew I wanted to be there for my children, enjoy time with them, teach them, play with them and be a fabulous mom.  But the fact was to accomplish that I had to change my health fast because they were growing quickly and I wasn’t getting any better.  The problem was I needed to put myself first to accomplish my goals and I had always put everyone else first.  If I wasn’t a healthy mom then I couldn’t care for my children the way they deserved.  I had spent years focusing on everyone else, my patients, my students, my coworkers, my children, my husband and my family.  This vicious cycle of caring for everyone but myself was ready to spiral if I didn’t take action.  I had hit rock bottom and I needed to climb out of the hole.   It was me now or death.  Sounds strong but true, if health continues to fail, symptoms and prescriptions multiply, then death is eminent.

In 2013, I finally took the leap.  I decided that I needed to be my priority.  I changed my diet by removing foods that were harmful to my body.  I started seeing a homeopathic physician and undergoing IV vitamin infusions, immunoglobulin and treatments.  I also started incorporating fitness into my weekly routine.  I was still fatigued most of the time but my energy levels were starting to change.  I noticed I wasn’t exhausted the entire day.  I slowly felt like my body was coming back.  Of course, the treatments became very expensive and I had to stop.  I continued the diet, supplements and fitness regimen.  I made sure that I had some alone time to relax periodically but my body was still in pain, exhausted and filled with other symptoms.  I spent years trying to wean of prescriptions and tackle things with OTC supplements. I researched and made my own OTC regimen but they really were not working.

I knew that there had to be a better way.  But I just hadn’t figured it out yet.  I knew my body was missing nutrients to enhance my health.  Thankfully, I had a friend that was about to share a revolutionary new concept with me and I was open to learn more.  She told me about her Multiple Sclerosis and the supplement she was taking.  She shared a video that would change my future.  It took me 5 months of research to finally take the leap but I did.  I am thankful everyday for her and finding my way to nutrigenomics.  Nutrigenomics is the science of using nutrient-rich compounds to impact your genetic expressions.  This revolutionary supplement activates a pathway in the body that enable your body to produce its own enzymes to activate your good genes.  It removes toxins, fight free radical damage and supports the body for the daily assault of oxidative stress.  The research showed me that oxidative stress was the leading cause of disease and illness.  It impacts more than 200 diseases and is published in PubMed.  I realized pretty quickly that Nrf2 activation was a good step for me to take.  So, I started and was amazed.  A week after starting Nrf2 and Nrf1 my energy levels were increasing, I was sleeping better and less achy.  I knew it would take time to reverse the damage my body had undergone over these 39+ years, so I was patient.  After 1 month, my energy and sleep continued to improve.  Like anyone, stressful nights with less sleep would make me tired, but I wasn’t exhausted all day long anymore.  Month by month my symptoms kept getting better.  I knew after 3 months, nutrigenomics was going to be a staple in my life.  My health journey, was far from over and healing was still progressing but I was finally on the right path.  Over the next year, I realized autoimmune disease and chronic illness is a lifelong battle.  I learned that tweaking and adjusting diet routines, exercise, yoga, medication and my supplements were essential.  I learned to deal with flare ups and create a plan that worked for me.  I am thankful that I achieved my goals, I reduced my fatigue and pain successfully. It is essential to advocate for your health and remember your health needs to be a priority everyday.  It is also important to find resources and holistic health treatments that enhance your healing throughout your journey.  I still remember the exhausted mom with excruciating pain but I am thankful I don’t have to live that way anymore.  Now, I live my life helping others find their own health and stop the constant struggle.

    Hair loss Sucks!

Hair loss sucks in general wether you are a man or a woman. But there is more of a stigma for woman and it impacts their self-esteem significantly.  My hair loss began 22 years ago and doctors didn’t pay much attention to it.  It took years and countless doctors for someone to finally look a little further and explain what was happening to me.  I knew there was a reason behind my hair loss and it was more than stress.  I had spent years telling doctors it had to be related to my digestive issues, my nutrient absorption had to be part of it.  But they ignored me. I also felt being on birth control since 15 years old had to be a factor.  Nope you are fine, keep taking it.  After each child, the hair loss got worse and worse.  Finally, I found a dermatologist that did a biopsy. She found that my hair was in the resting phase called telogen effluvium, which typically lasts 2-3 months.  For most people 15% of the hair is in the resting phase and 85% in the growing phase.  But people with telogen effluvium there is an imbalance in the hair cycles.  This hair loss occurs due to severe stress and usually resumes hair growth again in 2-3 months.  Of course, for me nothing is simple, I was under chronic stress.  Guess what happens with chronic stress and telogen effluvium, the hair stays in this phase and if it falls out, the follicle dies.  I continued with the same pattern for years. I was using rogaine, topical steroids, scalp injections, etc.  The hair would grow and then I was right back in the resting stage again.  I was sick of using treatments and the need to use them consistently.  I decided to get a virtual consultation by a hair loss specialist that was recommended to me.  I sent my pictures in for his team to review. They recommended a hair transplant and the laser cap, which provides low-level laser therapy to the scalp.  I am not ready for a hair transplant, so I went for the cap.  I’ve been using it for years now.  It has helped my hair slow down the hair loss and promote hair growth but like anything you need to use it.  I go through phases of being really good and then I forget.  Recently, I started using it again because I am back to losing hair again.  There are several types of hair loss but treatments are pretty much the same regardless of the type of hair loss.

Here are some causes of hair loss:
    ? Genetics
    ? Pregnancy
    ? Psoriasis
    ? PCOS
    ? Seborrheic dermatitis
    ? harsh hair treatment
    ? Menopause
    ? Medical problem
    ? Extreme stress
    ? Rapid weight loss
    ? Nutritional deficit
    ? Medications

I made a bunch of changes over the years to fight back against my hair loss.  I cut out birth control and other prescriptions.  I stopped using highlights and harsh treatments.  I also kept my medicine handy for psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis flare ups.  It is definitely a lifelong battle with hair loss for me.  I have also tried a bunch of haircare products and treatment plans.  I am very excited about a new treatment that is coming out this year in December.  I am going to combine it with the laser cap and see where I go.  The pictures below are of a client with remarkable results. I can’t wait to take pictures of my progress.  I am super excited because I know the products are high quality and contain Nrf2 ingredients.  Nrf2 activation has changed so much of my health already. I am so excited to see what it will do for my hair.  May the biohacking continue…

    My burning desire…

My burning desire is for women to truly enjoy their bodies, embrace their desire for pleasure and have fantastic orgasms.  The funny thing is my burning desire changed drastically over the past year.  It used to be a desire to help people feel healthier, happier, motivated and energized.  This desire transformed because my female clients all expressed desires for better orgasms and improved libido.  The interesting phenomenon is that people that are experiencing symptoms of disease or illness, also express concerns with libido and orgasms.  This was the same thing I experienced in my own journey to wellness.  I worked hard to reduce symptoms and inadvertently regained my libido.  There are a variety of factors that influence libido and orgasms.  Some examples are: stress, inflammation, disease, illness and medications.  My libido returned after I started fighting the root cause of illness which is known as oxidative stress.  Oxidative stress causes more than 200 diseases as a result of free radical damage.  This is the leading cause of cellular stress and inflammation which impacts the human body in a multitude of ways.  The fact is a body filled with toxins and stress is bound to develop illness and disease.  Physical decline and symptoms begin to arise as we age. Decreased libido is one of the symptoms of oxidative stress.  It is inevitable for libido to decline when illness prevails.  I saw this personally, you see my libido was intense in my teens and college years, yet as disease continued to progress, it slowly began to dwindle and disappear.  I’m not the only woman that has experienced this phenomenon.  Women all over the world experience decreased libido as they age.   The impact it places on your life depends on the individual.  So I ask you, are you willing to accept it and live with no libido.  Its up to you to take a leap and change your outcome.  Do you accept a future with no libido?  Do you want to spend the rest of your life experiencing difficulty with orgasms?
You can have fabulous orgasms everyday and enjoy the moment fully.  Regaining your sexual desires and libido in this busy stressful life is hard for most adults, specially women.  Trust me I know first hand, how difficult it can be to relax and enjoy the moment.  Our exhausting lives prevent us from fully embracing the moment but it doesn’t have to be that way.  I have struggled with my own libido throughout my 17 year marriage.  Yet, there were no issues with libido the first 8 years of my relationship.  But guess what, my responsibilities and stress was also less before marriage.  The stress, anxiety and tension of life impacted my health, happiness and libido.  Thankfully, my health journey took me from 0 to 360.  What do you mean 0 to 360?  I went from thinking sex was a chore with no desire to initiate to an exponential desire for sex.  Now I desire sex everyday, sometimes multiple times a day.  I went from sex as a requirement to sex as a staple to end my day with a bang and release tension.   I was so preoccupied with emotional and physical stress that I could not enjoy myself and embrace my orgasms.  I’m not saying I didn’t have orgasms, but I simply didn’t have any desire to initiate anything.  I preferred an excuse or performed the act with little enjoyment.   I was so exhausted all the time, I preferred sleep over sex.  My orgasms were few and far between.  They went from a few orgasms a week to multiple orgasms a day.  I am talking about a huge amount of eye rolling orgasms everyday.  It is possible for everywoman to enjoy their bodies and embrace the gift of orgasm.  Sex doesn’t have to feel like a chore, it can be like your teenage years again.  No more faking an orgasm or a headache to avoid sex altogether. Sex can be fun and exciting again by reconnecting with your body and your own desires.  You can rekindle the romance and fireworks with your partner.  You have to do a little fun homework to get it back.  Remember, the vagina is a muscle, it needs to be used regularly to enhance the sensations.  The more you engage in foreplay and sex, the better the experiences becomes.  Overtime, the orgasms become more intense and satisfying.  So, here are some simple things you can do today.
    • Stretch your tight muscles & breathe deeply– combining deep breathing and stretching your tension areas will progressively stretch your muscles and reduce tension.  This little routine everyday will promote relaxation and prepare your body for the ultimate sexual experiences. I call this “You Play,” its about relaxing the body, embracing the sensations and preparing for deep intense orgasms.
    • Massage your feet – use a cream or essential oil and really dig in and stretch your toes and massage the sore spots.  Our feet hold a lot of tension and toxins.  A good foot rub will remove toxins, reduce tension and enhance relaxation to prepare you for fantastic sex.
    • Kegel daily – building those vaginal muscles again takes a little hard work and dedication. Strengthening your pelvic floor muscles will enhance muscle tone, increase blood flow and promote lubrication. You can also use vaginal weights to tighten up those muscles faster.
    • Lubricate – the vagina needs lubrication to enhance sensations and promote orgasms.  As we age, lubrication decreases and lack of sex makes the body forget its function.  Using coconut oil or water based lubricant will enhance the experience and help you reach orgasm more effectively.  Don’t be stingy reapply and use plenty.  This will prepare your body and enhance the sensations, to enable your own juices to flow.
    • Fight Oxidative Stress every day with Nr2 activation–  This was the most significant factor in regaining my libido.  Taking 1 little yellow pill everyday changed my sex life forever.  Stop the environmental and physical assault on your body and help it work the way you want.  Removes toxins from the body that cause inflammation and illness.  This is my most powerful secret to create the young vibrant orgasmic body you want.

Love your body, seems simple right.  Well it truly is a complex process, there is nothing simple about it.  Learning your body can take months or even years to achieve.  It took me 20+ years in a constant health struggle to decide; there had to be a better way to Love my body.  I was oblivious to the potential my body had to offer, the gifts I was given and the path my journey would take me.  I wasted years eating the wrong foods, hiding my emotional/physical pain and avoiding physical activities.  This constant physical assault on my body caused my physical and emotional illness to develop and my self-love to diminish.  Over the past 5 years, I learned the foods that were optimal for my body, the physical activities that made me heal, the importance of caring for yourself, and the optimal routine to maintain my health.  My true understanding of my body came over the past year.  Finally, I was free of pain and able to feel and understand the messages my body was sending.  I became aware of the tension forming in my muscles, when stress was at its peak.  I realized that taking the time to address this tension early on, helped prevent the development of severe pain and helped maintain a state of homeostasis or balance.  I learned to develop techniques and strategies to promote my daily healing, detox, muscle relaxation, repair and rejuvenation.  I learned that there is a huge connection between physical and emotional pain.  This fact made me more aware of emotional stress and its impact on my body.  I was able to incorporate relaxation and stress relief into my routine to reduce the impact stress had on my body.  Over this year, I developed my tension-buster routine, its unique for my body, my tension and my pain.  But the fun fact is, it can be adapted and developed to help others achieve the same benefits.  I learned to use my environment, gravity and body weight to stretch each and every muscle in my body.  I learned to feel the tension in each muscle and learn ways to release the stress, toxins and tension from each one.  Wether the pain is in your shoulder or your leg, our muscles are all interconnected and effective stretching needs to target this complex muscle network.  I learned that my bodies weakness is toxins and poor circulation.  My techniques help me optimize my bodies potential to release these toxins and enhance my circulation to reduce inflammation, stress and pain more effectively.  The best benefit of my tension-buster routine and health journey, was rediscovering my libido.  My libido had gone, completely dormant for 10-15 years, due to my severe illness and build up of toxins.  It was an amazing benefit to see that all the work and effort I put into healing my body, helped me reap such powerful physical and emotional benefits.  Over the past few months, I further adapted my routine to include Kegel Yoga.  This Kegel Yoga routine is specifically designed for women to enhance libido, improve vaginal muscle strength and improve orgasms.  This yoga is part of my daily routine and the benefits are outstanding.  I am thankful that my friends and peers are now seeing the benefits of the courses, I offer.   Kegel Yoga is designed to help women develop an intimate relationship with their bodies, combining the tension-buster yoga with kegel strengthening to enhance and reengage sexual desires.  So, there it is, if you want to learn your body and reconnect with its unique abilities, give me a call.   I am here to share my routines with you, in groups or private sessions.  Learn to love your body, feel it, experience and achieve all you desire. Diane Friendly

Diane Friendly is a funny topic.  Its often not what are you allergic too, its what can you eat.  Over the years, my diet has changed periodically corresponding to symptoms and health status.  Food sensitivities and food allergies have increased over the years in the world.  I believe its because foods are just not as pure and simple as they used to be.  More chemicals, GMOs, additives, sweeteners and corn syrup is added to everything that makes food undigestible and essentially poison to some people.  People always ask me: How do you eat? What are you allergic too? How do you eat out?  My answer is I read menus, look at ingredients and ask questions.  My main allergies are corn, gluten, apples, black pepper and white pepper.  There are more but these are the most common allergies to mention. These are the foods I look out for everyday.  I usually try to keep my orders simple. I don’t mix too many food variables because that will cause me more symptoms.  For example, if I have eaten an entree before, I might try a new appetizer but if I am trying a new entree, I won’t order an appetizer.  The simple fact is if you tummy is sensitive, like mine, it is better to keep it simple. Let your body digest one plate at a time.  Society today pushes, appetizer, entree and dessert but many times the mixture of so many variables is the issue.  If you eat all of these things and you get an upset stomach, your body just can’t digest the food and it sticks around and causes symptoms.  I used to eat dessert all the time but now, I don’t crave it and I won’t eat it until my meal has digested.  I don’t need to add more sugar into my body while I am digesting my meal, it simply makes digestion slower.  The easiest foods for me to order are usually a protein and a vegetable.  I don’t usually eat rice because the only rice I can eat is jasmine or brown.  The fact about rice is it is filled with starch and some has more starch than others, which I can’t digest.  Vegetables and salad are usually not seasoned, which makes it a good side dish.  But there are variables because I can’t eat all vegetables or salad, which means sometimes I won’t know until the food arrives.  The protein that is usually not pre-seasoned is fish, for some reason beef and chicken usually are seasoned with pepper.  I can tell you sometimes its not easy, I can go to a restaurant and not find one item I can eat.  This happens in restaurants that have pre-seasoned everything.  I have also had times that I order, say all my allergies, and still have a reaction.  My reaction is immediate, gas, bloating and indigestion.  The reaction can last hours or days.  I can tell you the side effects are not worth the delight of eating foods I know I love but can’t digest.  The suffering used to be daily, and I refuse to live that way.  So, I take charge of my diet and keep snacks with me.  I speak up for myself, I read everything, I find the best option on the menu and go with it.  If I have a party to go to, I take an appetizer, snacks, alcohol or whatever I might need.  The simple fact is that I can’t be sure that the events will be able to accommodate me, so I advocate for myself and stay prepared.  The key to my success is eliminating and avoiding the foods that are harmful.  Advocating for myself and keeping snacks handy helps me stay healthy and avoid symptoms.  Do you have digestive issues? Do you eat and feel exhausted after?  Do you get bloated and look pregnant?  Do you have reflux?  These are all signs that some foods are harmful for you.  I can help identify the foods to eliminate and make a plan that is right for you.  Give me a call the Consultation is Free.

    Pregnancy Support

Pregnancy and fertility can be difficult for women.  Fertility is impacted by a multitude of factors including diet, fitness, stress level, genetics, medications, ovulation, infections and more.  Some women face a variety of struggles with fertility.  I had difficulty conceiving my first child.  I had tried for 9 months, then finally decided to read a book about fertility.  The book was called “Taking Charge of Your Fertility.”  I had several friends that had used it.  I had already scheduled an appointment with a fertility specialist but the appointment was 2 months away.  I started taking my temperature every day and keeping track.  The book helped me understand my ovulation and menstrual cycle.  I made sure that after intercourse on ovulation days, I remained in bed for 20 minutes.  I did this for 2 months, and when I went to see the doctor, guess what I was pregnant.  It is also important to ensure you are feeding your body healthy foods, exercising and taking time for you.  These techniques help relax your body, reduce stress and feed nutrients that will support the infant.  If I could turn back the clock,  I would have taken nutrients that could stop the damage that occurs during pregnancy and repair my body.  Of course, at the time, I had not had an idea of the health decline that would come after my pregnancies.  If someone would have shared with me the benefits of activating the Nrf2 during pregnancy, it would have made a huge difference in my health.  It would have given my body the nutrients it needed to repair itself and reduce the cellular stress that was multiplying every second.  Based on my experience I know the pregnancies placed a huge impact on my health decline and eventual health crisis.

The female body undergoes a variety of additional stressors during pregnancy.  The body creates an environment to grow and nurture and infant.  My body was already experiencing some digestive issues, chronic pain and other problems at the time.  Thankfully, the pregnancy went well but it wrecked havoc on my body.  My health continued to progressively get worse and eventually I needed to remove my gallbladder.  My health continued to have issues but miraculously 3 years later, I was pregnant again.  This time, I did not have to try at all. We were planning to begin trying and I found out I was already pregnant. After my second son, my health worsened exponentially.  After each child, I breast fed them each for 1 year.  This continued to place more priority on the baby than myself.  I was feeding the babies every nutrient I had and my body just couldn’t absorb more.  I had severe IBS that progressively worsened until I developed leaky gut.  I had told doctors many times that my body was not absorbing nutrients and that was why my hair was falling and other symptoms were multiplying.  Unfortunately, conventional medicine was not the answer, and I had not figured that out yet.  Essentially, I had placed priority nutritional support for my children for approximately 3 years and 6 months.  Now, think about this, we are built to carry babies and feed them.  But we are not necessarily equipped to maintain optimal nutrition and health for ourselves during this process.  I have seen a multitude of women that have gone through the same issues. Progressively their health changed after each child until chronic illness developed.  This health decline is easily preventable by activating the Nrf2 pathway, which goes dormant at 20 years of age.  Essentially, our bodies were born with the ability to do this, but then it just stops.  If you activate this pathway your body can repair itself, every single day.    So, I tell you this, if you could prevent this damage, would you?  Would you take the opportunity to learn more? Ask me how?

    Food Sensitivities and Nutrition

Food sensitivities and food allergies are a growing problem. These food sensitivities are impacting the brains of children and adults. Research shows the most common food sensitivities are: gluten, dairy, corn, sugar and artificial sweeteners. These foods are negatively impacting brain health everywhere.

The Center for Celiac Research conducted a study of gluten allergies because they had noticed a critical increase of patients with a variety of symptoms that increased significantly over time. These patients exhibited symptoms of Celiac Disease but testing continued to be negative. These patients continued to return with the same symptoms. Many patients began gluten-free diets and their symptoms improved. They reached the conclusion that though this group of people did not have celiac disease, their symptoms were related to the disease (Fasano 2012).
The researchers discovered that one of the culprits for this phenomenon was related to agricultural changes in wheat. Centuries ago gluten grains did not exist. Wheat, triticale, rye and barley are new grains that have been introduced to our modern diet. Our bodies have not evolved in order to digest them properly. In recent years the protein content in modern wheat has increased significantly and 14% of dry wheat is gluten. This amount of gluten is high. This phenomenon is happening because more gluten gives food desirable characteristics that look appetizing and delicious (Fasano 2012).
There is a significant connection between brain function and gluten. People with gluten sensitivity exhibit symptoms of gas, bloating, pain, constipation and diarrhea. The interesting fact is that the brain could be impacted at a molecular level even with out any digestive symptoms (Perlmutter 2013). Degenerative brain disorders are linked to inflammation and oxidative stress. In recent years, they have discovered the exact triggers of this inflammation. The research shows that high carbohydrate diet and gluten stimulate the inflammatory pathways that reaches the brain (Perlmutter 2013). Gluten sensitivity is caused by elevated levels of antibodies against a protein found in gluten. The protein known as gliadin combined with the antibody anti-gliadin when people eat food containing gluten.  As a result of this reaction, specific genes are turned on. These genes then cause inflammatory chemicals are created called cytokines.  Cytokines directly cause damage and impact brain function. The brain does not like inflammation thus, it responds negatively to cytokines. This phenomenon of turning on genes that negatively impact brain health and function (Perlmutter 2011).  This connection between gluten sensitivity and the brain has been studied for the past decade.
According to Dr. Maios Hadjivassiliou of the United Kingdom, a recognized world authority on gluten sensitivity: “gluten sensitivity can be primarily and at times, exclusively a neurological disease.”  People can manifest gluten sensitivity by having issues with brain function without any gastrointestinal symptoms at all. Dr. Hadjivassiliou indicates that the antibodies that a person has when they are gluten sensitive can be directlyand uniquely toxic to the brain (1996).  Since his original investigations in 1996, there has been an explosion of scientific papers describing this relationship between gluten sensitivity and brain disorders.  Researchers in Israel have noted neurological problems in 51% of children with gluten sensitivity. They also describe a link between gluten sensitivity and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  As authors in a recent issue of the journal, Pediatrics, stated in their research, “This study suggests that the variability of neurologic disorders that occur in celiac disease is broader than previously reported and includes softer and more common neurologic disorders including chronic headache, developmental delay, hypotonia and learning disorders or ADHD”(Pediatrics 2004).
These research findings pose an interesting problem in a society bombarded by processed foods and gluten filled products.  There is a significant need for education and advocacy throughout the community.  The key to health prevention and wellness is knowledge.  Knowledge gives people to power to make decisions that can improve their health and wellness.   The incidence of health issues, developmental delays, Autism and a multitude of diseases continues to multiply every day.  The most interesting part of this phenomenon for me, is that Maria found it through research and I found it through my own health crisis.  This phenomenon impacted my health from the beginning of my life until my adult autoimmune crisis.  The significance of my food allergies and sensitivities as a child was never really addressed.  I continued to live a life eating foods filled with corn, diary, sugar, gluten and artificial ingredients.   As a child, my symptoms were abdominal pain, constipation, anxiety, fatigue, attention issues and learning disability.  As a teen, my symptoms were migraines, IBS, constipation, abdominal pain, severe cramps, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue and attention issues.  These symptoms multiplied and worsened into adulthood until my eventual autoimmune crisis.  Thus, research and my own experiences, truly show the significant impact a relationship between autoimmune conditions and gluten sensitivity.  The impact of gluten sensitivity on our brains and bodies is significant.  The phenomenon should not be taken lightheartedly, knowledge is power, take action and advocate for your health.  Schedule a Free Consultation to learn how to fight back.
